Online and on TV, Dragons‘ Den sees entrepreneurs pitching for investment from some of Britain’s top business brains. However how will the do against a Cassetteboy remix?

Now I for one am not a fan of X Factor! I hate the humilation that all the contestants have to go through.  My girlfriend on the other hand loves it and can be heard humming the theme tune around our house which drives me mad.

The popularity of the show then got me thinking about business.  The video below is of one of the contents called Danyl Johnson.  The video has already recieved 8,480,213 views on YouTube due to the popularity of the voting format and also for the controversy that it sometimes causes.

I for one would love to see a business program like Dragons Den or the apprentice in the format of Britain’s Got Talent.  Essentially budding entrepreneurs would get between 30 seconds to 2 minutes to pitch their ideas.  The best business ideas would then win a chance to win a prize?

Think of it as X Factor meets Dragons Den meets Britain’s Got Talent!   Is this a good idea or not, would it work?  Leave a comment and let us know.

Dragons Den for those of you who do not know is a television program where wannbe entrepreneurs pitch their idea to a panel of potential investors.  The premise it’self is simple.  The package in my opinion now seems to be more about ratings and the stupid ideas that get into the den in the first place.

Don’t get me wrong.  I commend anyone who has an idea to go for it.  My frustrations are aimed at the producers who now know that they have a winning forumula of business and entertainment.

The show is all pantomime now.

“I’d like £100,000 for my little idea please” Says entrepreneur.  ”Oh no you don’t” Replies back the big scary dragon.  ”Oh but I do!” Says the entrepreneur getting a little bit nervous. “I’ll tell you where I am.”  Shouts back the scary dragon. “IM OUT”

Some entrepreneurs live happily ever after, or at least until the show ends or just before any due diligence is done.  If I was a dragon I would of course want to ensure that I got a reasonable return on my investment. Do I still watch it? Of course I do!

Dragons Den Every Wednesday BBC2 9:00PM

As much as I love The Apprentice for it’s premise.  Over the years it’s become a pantomime of cartoon stereotypes. The bitch, the geezer, the posh boy etc… I much prefer  the immediacy of Dragon Den, as opposed to having to wait 12 weeks or so to find out who has won the Apprentice.

There are however some important lessons to be learned from both programs, the most important being, be yourself, understand the numbers, and always play, present, or deliver a pitch to win.
